Other Engagements this Year
In spite of record-breaking pelting showers which closed most of the stages on Saturday and the entire the event on Sunday the Boston's Irish Irish Cultural Festival at Stonehill College June 12-14 was great fun for those of us who made it. The Bard Tent was one of the few dry spots on campus and we kept the people entertained for hours.
Here is my humble self. I got to session with Cape Bretain fiddler Dougie MacDonald when the power was knocked out by the weather.
Here is the irrepresible Irish singer Briget Fitzgerald with the ever-subtle Carol Barney on the guitar.
David Doherty, a fine whistle/flute player and painter along with the wonderful fiddler Seamus Connolly. Next to him is an extraordinary bodhran player, Mary Ellen Kelley.
The wet morning after. In some parts of the Boston area, over 6 inches of rain fell in a few hours. The parking lot became a mud-sucking car catcher. The Guiness Fleadh in New York had to be shut down due to the weather also.
