We Visit Lake Woebegone at the
World-Famous Hollywood Bowl

View from Section V1

The Hollywood Bowl has become a popular Mass Comm 101 field trip.

Demand for our low-cost Bowl tickets was very strong. More than 80 tickets were sold to MC101s and their guests.

Here is the view from our seats. About 16,000 turned out on this evening.

Crowd at Bowl

We had a good turnout, although some of the MC101s had trouble wading through the traffic both outside and inside the Bowl.

Program
The night's entertainment was a presentation of Garrison Keillor's A Prairie Home Companion. This performance took place a week before a movie version of Keillor's long-runniong radio show was released in theaters.
Bowl Museum
MC101s were given an assignment that focused on the Hollywood Bowl and media synergy. One part of the assignment led students to the Hollywood Bowl Museum.
Bowl Museum
The Bowl Museum is really excellent. It's a lot of fun to browse the exhibits and learn something about the history of this famous venue.
In Our Seats
Eventually, though, we made our way to our seats to take in the night's festivities.

On our way out, we were confronted by some genuine Hollywood Bowl merchandise. You could take home your own personal Hollywood Bowl.
And for a paltry fee you could take the rulers of music home with you.

In all, an excellent MC101 field trip.
