We had a great time at the annual Irish Cultural Centre Festival at Stonehill College outside of Boston. Dennis performed in the Bard Workshop Tent produced by Ellen Fleming and Ellen Begley. Also performing on this stage were Laurence Nugent, Liz Carrol, Bridget Fitzgerald with Carol Barney, Seamus Connolly with Tony Cuff, and most wonderful of all, Rita and Sarah Keane (two septagenarian aunts of singer Dolores Keane, who sang a beautiful set of sean nos songs . Great craic and good people.
On the weekend of May 30-June 1, Dennis performed at the Irish Music Festival of Anchorage, Alaska. Alaska is the "land of the midnight sun" with the sun not really ever going down until after midnight. We found that most of us musicians stayed up pretty late. The Craic was mighty!. Dennis emceed the Friday night concert, played the harp in a Saturday night concert and taught Introductory Irish and Irish Singing at workshops. Also featured at the event was Sean Keene, Paddy Keenan, Laurence Nugent, Jim DeWan, Peter Yeates, Randal Bays, storyteller Tanya Coulter, dancers Tim O'Hare and Fiona Buckley and the groups the "Portland Paddys" and "Orla and the Gasmen".
