| We are about to begin our Los Angeles Times tour. We're
across the street from Los Angeles City Hall. |
| Once inside the building, we stopped in the Globe Lobby, the ornate entrance to the main 1935 newspaper building. |
But enough of the media stuff. Let's talk briefly
about what is truly important: Breakfast! These MC101s met with me before the Times field trip for breakfast at Philippe's, a fixture of Downtown Los Angeles since 1908. OK, back to the Times tour ...
We learned that the printing presses (which are many
decades newer than this model) are no longer at the Downtown location. |
| Our tour guide, Darrell Kunitomi, showed
us the newspaper's library where the reporters do background research
for their stories. |
We really did wander all around the newsroom and other
parts of the Times. The MC101s had an excellent opportunity to see
how a major metropolitan newspaper operates, and to ask questions about it. On to tour walking tour of Downtown. |
