We Tour the Los Angeles Times
 Times Group
We are about to begin our Los Angeles Times tour. These early arrivals are outside the main entrance at First and Spring streets.
Eventually, enough students turned out to fill two tours.
Before the Times field trip, though, a small group of us gathered for breakfast at Philippe's.
L.A. Times Presses

There is a historical newspaper exhibit in the Globe Lobby. We learned that the printing presses (which are many decades newer than this model) are no longer at the Downtown location.
 Globe Lobby
Our tour guide, Darrell Kunitomi, started with a discussion of the Times' place in Los Angeles history. Our delegation is in the historic Globe Lobby.
Darrell showed us all around the newsroom and other offices. We are seeing one of the Sunday sections before it has been officially published.
Pre-1985 news clippings are kept in original paper format. The Times has a huge archive of them.
 Note Pads
The MC101s had an excellent opportunity to see how a major metropolitan newspaper operates, and to ask questions about it. And when the tour was over, we all got reporters notebooks and pencils.

On to tour walking tour of Downtown.
