We Begin Our Day of Downtown Field
Trips by Touring the Los Angeles Times
Here we are on our Los Angeles Times tour. As usual, the Times is the first field trip of the semester.

Also as usual, Darrell Kunitomi is our very able tour guide. But there is more to tell about this field trip. We will start at the beginning.

We met in the Times' ornate main lobby, place of much marble, historical exhibits and a very impressive globe. The latter prompts a none-too-convincing Atlas imitation.
It is a pleasant morning Downtown. This will be appreciated later when we do a walking tour.

In this photo, we are just outside the editorial offices of the Times.

Back inside the Times, we are led through what seem like endless hallways in the sprawling complex. This is the test kitchen where recipes are tried out for articles in the Food Section.
Our turnout for this field trip is terrific ... almost too terrific (41 MC101s and guests). Here we are trying our best to not clog up the corridors and hinder the editorial functions of the Times.
We witness life in the  newsroom ...
... Which certainly has a distinct personality .

On to tour walking tour of Downtown.
